Leave a Light on Software, Inc. was formed in October of 2005. The company started as a consulting firm for .NET and SQL based web applications with a specialty in medical insurance. Our staff has very quickly grown to include a variety of capabilities; including but not limited to: Windows server administration, Linux server administration, network administration, Perl, CGI, PHP, Java and AJAX. Leave a Light on Software has at the ready qualified professionals for your project needs.

Our Mission

Lalosoft's mission is to provide our clients with solutions to their problems, to get the work done quickly and efficiently. There are many products out there that do the job, but supporting, maintaining and using those products is time consuming and thus more expensive than they need to be. Lalosoft's goal is to make products that are easy to use and efficient to work with.

There is a lot of software on the market today that is easy to use, but that software takes a lot of user interaction that could be removed from the process. (i.e. filling in forms, setting up automated tasks, and configuring servers are all tasks that are easy for those who know how.) Lalosoft will make that job easier and less time consuming. Our clients save time and money.

Practical Application

This is one example of what we can do for you as we have done for our clients.

One of our clients deals with importing various formats of fixed width data that are very different every time they are received. Setting up SQL server to load a fixed width file can take 8 to 16 hours for a file with multiple record types in the file. Fixed-width File Pro was designed with this problem in mind. Fixed-width File Pro takes this process down to 20 minutes for this type of file.

Imagine, 8 to 16 hours now only 20 minutes. What makes this work is not what most would think. Taking the document (Word, Excel, CSV, or HTML) and producing a DTS package or bulk loading script and tables in the SQL database takes the majority of this time. And both only have limited capability to handle malformed files. Lalosoft makes this configuration process extremely fast not by making the process of loading the data faster, that is fast, and it doesn't take human intervention to complete. Instead Lalosoft made the initial setup extremely fast. For a company that has DBA's doing this up to 3 times a month every month of the year this configuration time adds up. Using 8 hours for a conservative estimate this is a time savings of approximately 276 hours per year, approximately 7 weeks of our client’s valuable time. What would you do with 7 weeks?

Soon after its formation Leave a Light on Software started planning projects to obtain the company's long term goal of becoming a leading provider of back office IT support software. This includes utilities for IT personnel, and system support software for automation. The types of utilities Leave a Light on Software plans to release to the market over the next few years will be geared toward making many common tasks performed by programmers, DBA’s, and analysts more efficient and much easier. Our focus is on improving commonly used methods of loading data, processing repetitive tasks, automation, and creating new products that will replace current methods. Leave a Light on Software is at your service for contract labor and consulting.

At Leave a Light on Software, we eat our own dog food. All of the software the company releases will be used to create, maintain, and support other projects for websites, services, and a number of home user applications.
